The other year the V&A
Museum had a wonderful retrospective on Horrockses. John Horrocks set up a cotton goods company in Preston.
The fashion arm was created in 1946 as part of an initiative to use and sell
the fabric – your granny would have worn one of their off the peg dresses –
which were the high of chic in their day. They had celebrities and even royalty
as fans, and the brand was given the royal warrant in the 1960s. But due to the
ever changing tide of fashion in the 70s and 80s when people opted for manmade
fibres they died a death until now, when it has been revived as a homeware
brand.
Riding the tide of enthusiasm for all things vintage, the
new range features some of the original prints on a range of bed linen and House of Fraser have this wonderful
range of fashionista cushions based on their original designs – I’m in love.
