Ingredients
225g Plain flour
175g Butter
75g Caster sugar
Topping
100g Butter
397g can condensed milk
100g soft brown sugar
few drops of vanilla essence
150g chocolate

Place flour in a bowl and rub in the butter until the mixture looks like breadcrumbs

Stir in the sugar

Knead into a smooth dough

Grease and put baking parchment in the base of a 28 x 18 x 3 cm tin then press the dough in the tin

Make sure the dough is even pushing it down with the back of a wooden spoon

Cook the base at 150c gas mark 3 for 25 minutes until it is golden brown

While the base is cooking start on the topping - put the butter , condensed milk and brown sugar into a pan and lightly heat until all the ingredients are melted together then boil for 5 minutes making sure you stir continuously

Add the vanilla essence and beat well

Pour evenly over the cooked base and leave to cool

Break the chocolate up into a heat proof bowl and melt over a pan of boiling water

Spraed the melted chocolate evenly over the topping and allow to fully set before taking out of the tin

Cut into squares and enjoy
