I have been looking at design classics and found two chairs which one is a design classic and a great investment piece and the other is cheaper but chic piece which has the same design aesthetics
BERTOIA SIDE CHAIR UNUPHOLSTERED POLISHED CHROME FRAME £486.00 (Conran)
Harry Bertoia was an Italian furniture designer and sculptor who left Italy at 15 and moved to the US – he won a scholarship to Cranbrook Academy of Art where he came into contact with other great furniture designers of their time – this chair is great just for its simplicity and the fact it will never date and will always look great and can look equally great as a dining or kitchen chair or solo in a room as a statement – it’s chrome mesh which can have upholstered cushions added and it has slender chrome legs – it has been described as “like a little black dress in a woman's wardrobe: universal, timeless and absolutely necessary.” – it is W54 x D73 x H58 cms.
Luna dining chair £119.00 (BHS)
This is a great homage by BHS, the point of difference is the rounded top and the shape of the legs as they come from a central point and branch out as four chrome legs with feet – it has a white PVC pad on the bottom – it measures Height 85cm x Width 49cm x Depth 50cm – so slightly smaller than the Bertoia.
